Ecuador CNE finalizes ballot designs for November 2026 elections
The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador has finalized key preparations for the sectional and CPCCS elections scheduled for November 29, 2026. The CNE has approved eight color-coded ballot designs to help voters distinguish between different offices. These include gray for mayoralties, brown for prefectures, dark green for urban councilors, light blue for rural councilors, light green for rural parish board members, yellow for male CPCCS candidates, pink for female CPCCS candidates, and orange for CPCCS representatives of indigenous, Afro-Ecuadorian, Montubio, and overseas Ecuadorian populations.
To prevent fraud, the ballots will incorporate security features such as anti-copy effects, microtext, and barcodes provided by the Instituto Geográfico Militar (IGM). Voters will use two separate urns: a white one for sectional dignities and a brown one for CPCCS candidates.
Approximately 13.8 million citizens are called to vote for 5,749 authorities. The CNE has designated 288,949 citizens as members of the voting boards. An online platform is available for voters to verify their assigned polling stations and membership status. The official electoral campaign period is set to run from November 12 to November 26.
