Mexico requires legal certainty and increased investment to drive growth

Business leaders in Mexico are calling for enhanced legal certainty, improved infrastructure, and significant increases in investment to stimulate economic growth. Alberto Espinosa, director of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Mexico, emphasized that establishing a favorable climate through clear rules, institutional quality, energy availability, and security is essential to building investor confidence.

Espinosa also noted that the upcoming review of the USMCA (T-MEC) should serve as an opportunity to strengthen regional integration and preserve clear commercial rules. He highlighted Mexico's potential to leverage its position within North America and diversify exports.

Complementing this view, the Center for Economic Studies of the Private Sector (Ceesp) stated that Mexico needs to allocate at least 25 percent of its GDP to investment to achieve economic growth exceeding 3 percent. To reach this goal by 2027, the total investment would need to surpass 10 trillion pesos. This target includes a requirement for 40 billion dollars in foreign direct investment and public investment equivalent to 3 percent of the GDP.
