Mexico rescues victims of virtual kidnapping in Ecatepec and Tulancingo
In Ecatepec, State of Mexico, coordinated operations involving federal, state and municipal forces used technical intelligence and a 911 report to locate a missing minor held under a virtual‑kidnapping scheme. The child was found alive in the Santa Clara Coatitla neighborhood and reunited with family, preventing any extortion payment.
In Tulancingo, Hidalgo, a 911 call prompted a joint search that located two minors and an adult in a hotel in the San Luis colonia. Authorities thwarted a demanded payment of 300,000 pesos, provided medical assistance and continue investigating the perpetrators of the telephone extortion.
