Mexico road repairs disrupt traffic in Ciudad Juárez and Caroní

A sinkhole on De la Raza Avenue in Ciudad Juárez forced the closure of one and a half of three lanes in the east‑west direction. The collapse of a 36‑inch sewer collector, weakened by recent heavy rains, prompted the municipal water and sanitation board (JMAS) to replace ten metres of pipe and coordinate with natural‑gas workers to ensure safety. Once the pipe is restored, pavement crews will rehabilitate the road.

In the Caroní municipality, the paving of Calle Europa remains unfinished and a traffic light at the intersection near the La Churuata shopping centre has been missing for over a decade. Persistent potholes and the lack of signal control have led to frequent minor collisions. Local administrator Rosa Zorrilla has appealed to the municipal mayor’s office to complete the asphalt work and install a new traffic‑light device.

Both incidents highlight ongoing municipal infrastructure challenges in Mexico, affecting drivers and pedestrians in the affected neighborhoods.
