Mexico rolls out Beca Rita Cetina payments to 15 million students

On June 1–12, Mexico’s Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), led by Secretary Mario Delgado Carrillo, will make staggered deposits for the Beca Rita Cetina scholarship covering pre‑school, primary and secondary pupils for the May‑June 2026 period. More than 15 million beneficiaries will receive the payments directly on Banco del Bienestar cards, with no additional paperwork required. Disbursements follow the first letter of each child’s surname, and this will be the final payment for the 2025‑2026 school cycle.

The payout is a central element of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s education‑wellbeing agenda, which also includes universal scholarships for secondary and higher‑education students, over 26 billion pesos in school‑infrastructure investment, the creation of thousands of new classrooms, and salary increases for teachers. The program seeks to ensure universal access, continued enrollment and completion of basic education across Mexico.
