Mexico rolls out new scholarship cards for primary and university students

The federal government in Mexico is urging families in Chihuahua to collect Rita Cetina scholarship cards, which provide a 2,500‑peso grant for uniforms and school supplies to primary‑school children. The collection drive runs from 13 to 17 July at the El Paseo mall, and officials say 18 % of the 50,000 registered students have yet to pick up their cards. Required documents include birth certificates, CURP, official ID and a recent utility bill.

In Mexico City, Governor Clara Brugada announced that the Beca a Universitarios para Transporte y Más program has reached 100,000 university students and aims to support 200,000 by the end of 2026. The scheme offers up to 7,500 pesos annually for transport and related expenses, with eligibility limited to public‑university students who reside in the capital, regardless of grades or income. The program’s budget is 866 million pesos, and 55 % of beneficiaries are women.
