Mexico sees deadly residential fires in Nezahualcóyotl and Torreón

In Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México, police arrested a 34‑year‑old woman identified as Yesenia N. after she allegedly doused her partner with gasoline and set him on fire during an argument. The victim suffered burns on roughly 70 % of his body and was hospitalized while the woman was taken into custody on domestic‑violence charges.

In Torreón, Coahuila, a fire engulfed a home in the Abastos neighborhood, killing 28‑year‑old mother Fátima Rincón and her eight‑year‑old son Logan Alejandro Rincón. Authorities said the pair likely died from smoke inhalation, as the flames did not reach the area where their bodies were found. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
