Mexico sees separate fatal shootings in Culiacán and Irapuato
A man known locally as “King Box” was shot dead on 4 July in front of a home on the main avenue of the San Manuel ejido near Aguaruto, Culiacán. The attack was carried out by a group of armed civilians who arrived in three sedans, used long‑ and short‑range firearms and tactical gear, and fled the scene. Authorities cordoned the area, collected shell casings and continue the investigation.
On 5 July, a merchant identified as “El Chilango” was killed by gunfire while selling jewelry at the Che Guevara market in Irapuato, Guanajuato, in front of his family. The shooter escaped on a motorcycle with a accomplice but was later detained by the state security agency. Police secured the scene, performed ballistic analysis and transferred the body for autopsy.
