Legislative reforms advance in Argentina and Mexico

Various legislative initiatives are moving through regional and national assemblies in Argentina and Mexico.

In Argentina, Deputy Álvaro Martínez of La Libertad Avanza is promoting a bill to update the distribution of seats in the National Congress based on recent census data. If passed, Mendoza would increase its representation from 10 to 12 deputies, addressing what proponents call a historical underrepresentation caused by outdated military-era decrees. Meanwhile, in Buenos Aires, Senator Malena Galmarini has introduced a project to modernize the social security system for dentists, proposing new contribution scales and oversight commissions. In Entre Ríos, a bill has reached the Chamber of Deputies to allow municipalities more autonomy in managing pension contributions for officials.

In Mexico, Senator Emmanuel Reyes Carmona presented his second legislative activity report. He emphasized that economic policy must support productive sectors and highlighted work regarding the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the strengthening of small and medium-sized enterprises (MiPymes).
