Mexico dispatches 718 tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela
Two Mexican Navy vessels, ARM Papaloapan and ARM Huasteco, left the port of Veracruz on 31 July under the instruction of President Claudia Sheinbaum. The larger ship, ARM Papaloapan, carried about 684 tons of supplies while ARM Huasteco added roughly 34.5 tons, bringing the total shipment to more than 718 tons.
The aid, coordinated by the Secretariat of Foreign Relations, the Navy, the Secretariat of Governance and the Veracruz Port Authority, is the second maritime delivery after a first shipment arrived on 13 July with about 388.42 tons. It is intended for Venezuelan communities affected by the June 2026 earthquakes, complementing earlier Mexican air assistance and rescue support.
Mexico framed the operation as a demonstration of its “solidarity vocation” and humanitarian tradition toward Latin America, emphasizing cooperation and regional solidarity.
