Mexico sentences man to prison over 337-liter methamphetamine seizure
A man identified as Rafael “N” has been sentenced to seven years and six months in prison following a drug trafficking conviction in Baja California Sur. The sentence follows the seizure of more than 337 liters of methamphetamine discovered during an inspection by the Mexican Army on the Transpeninsular highway between La Paz and Ciudad Constitución.
The shipment was intercepted by elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) while conducting surveillance patrols. The substance was being transported in a heavy tractor-trailer. Following the seizure, the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) conducted an investigation that led to a summary proceeding, resulting in the prison sentence at the La Paz Social Reinsertion Center and an additional economic fine.
