Mexico to debut Rafael Márquez in September‑October friendlies ahead of 2030 World Cup

The Mexico national football team will begin a three‑match friendly tour in the United States as it prepares for the 2030 World Cup. The first game is on 26 September in Baltimore against Colombia, followed by a match versus Peru on 29 September in Harrison, New Jersey, and a final friendly against Chile on 6 October in Los Angeles. These fixtures mark the debut of former captain Rafael Márquez as head coach, launching a new project after the 2026 World Cup.

A Nations League match is scheduled for the November FIFA window in Mexico, with the opponent yet to be announced. Chile, meanwhile, has confirmed its own September‑October friendlies, facing Canada on 26 September in Toronto and meeting Mexico on 6 October in Los Angeles, aligning with the same preparation schedule.

The series will allow the new coaching staff to assess players, test tactics and build a competitive identity aimed at keeping Mexico among the CONCACAF powers and advancing to the 2030 World Cup.
