Mexico social pension programs: eligibility and registration updates

In Mexico, elderly citizens may qualify for dual pension benefits by combining contributory pensions from institutions such as IMSS or ISSSTE with the non-contributory Pensión para el Bienestar de las Personas Adultas Mayores. To access the federal Bienestar support, individuals must be 65 years of age or older, Mexican nationals, and residents of Mexico. Receiving a labor-based pension does not disqualify a person from the federal social program.

Additionally, in Mexico City, a specific social program known as the Pensión Hombres Bienestar provides economic support to men aged 60 to 64. For the August 2026 period, the registration window is open from August 24 to August 28. This local program utilizes a house-to-house visitation scheme rather than online or module-based registration, with priority given to men aged 63 and 64.
