Mexico social programs show high female participation in federal subsidies
Data from Mexico’s Secretariat of Wellbeing indicates that women constitute more than half of the beneficiaries of federal subsidy programs and educational scholarships. Direct transfers to the adult population have reached record levels, with over 10 million women active in programs such as the Pension for Women’s Wellbeing and senior citizen support.
In the educational sector, the Beca Rita Cetina program supports 7,386,000 girls at the basic education level. Other significant programs include the Universal Upper Secondary Scholarship, which serves over 2,000,000 adolescents, and the Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro program, which supports 276,000 female university students.
Regarding the Beca Rita Cetina distribution, payments for the September-October period are being processed via Banco del Bienestar cards. The scholarship provides $1,900 pesos per family, plus an additional $700 pesos for each extra student enrolled at that level. The payment schedule is organized by the first letter of the paternal surname.
