Mexico State Judiciary implements AI to simplify judicial rulings

The Judiciary of the State of Mexico has integrated artificial intelligence through a tool called ‘Intérprete de Sentencias’ (Sentence Interpreter) to help citizens better understand judicial rulings. Available on the institution's transparency portal, the tool allows users to generate a simplified version of public judicial sentences in more accessible language.

By selecting the ‘Generar sentencia ciudadana’ (Generate citizen sentence) option, the technology processes the document to provide a clearer explanation of the judge's criteria. This initiative aims to bridge the gap for individuals without specialized legal knowledge. The tool operates directly on the consulted sentence without storing user information, and the generated interpretations are intended as support tools rather than official legal replacements.

Between May 7 and September 17, the tool successfully generated 5,599 interpretations. This implementation is part of broader efforts to use new technologies to strengthen access to judicial information and make justice more accessible.
