Mexico State Judiciary prepares to resolve amnesty requests

The Judiciary of the State of Mexico has announced that it is prepared to begin analyzing amnesty requests under new regulations. Héctor Macedo, president of the state's Superior Court of Justice, stated that the Judicial Administration Body has finalized the guidelines necessary to implement the procedure.

Resolutions are expected in the coming weeks once files are transferred to the appropriate authorities. The updated rules expand the criteria for amnesty, including cases involving women whose legal processes failed to consider gender perspective or human rights, as well as individuals in vulnerable conditions or those facing potential due process violations.

Magistrate Macedo emphasized that amnesty is not granted automatically. The first determinations will be made public to clarify the legal criteria and specific cases where the benefit applies. The process may involve the State of Mexico Human Rights Commission, the Public Defender's Office, and various civil organizations.
