Mexico State Legislature addresses municipal boundary disputes
The Territorial Limits Commission of the State of Mexico and its Municipalities has taken significant steps to resolve several inter-municipal boundary disputes. During a recent session, the commission approved a technical field visit scheduled for October 28 in the Espíritu Santo community. This visit aims to gather technical evidence regarding a 985.99-hectare disputed area between the municipalities of Jilotzingo and Atizapán de Zaragoza.
The commission also declared the end of the evidentiary period for five specific cases, including disputes in Atizapán Santa Cruz, San Juan Atzingo, San Juan Corrales, San Francisco Tlalcilalcalpan, San Pablo de Las Salinas, and Santa Catarina Ayontingo. Additionally, the commission processed testimonial evidence from the municipality of Temoaya regarding its boundary dispute with Toluca and swore in a topography and photogrammetry expert to assist in the case between Teoloyucan and Cuautitlán Izcalli.
The legislative body is currently managing 42 procedures, consisting of 31 territorial conflict cases and 11 cases regarding the creation of new demarcations.
