Mexico strengthens global manufacturing and export position

Mexico has established itself as a significant player in the global economy, contributing approximately 2% of the world's manufacturing GDP. According to the Center for Economic Studies of the Private Sector (CEESP), Mexico ranks as the second most industrially developed nation in the Americas, following only the United States.

The country currently stands as the eleventh largest exporter globally and the ninth in manufactured products, accounting for 2.4% of total world exports. This industrial shift, driven by trade agreements like the USMCA, has transitioned the economy from a reliance on oil and agriculture to a model where manufactures represent roughly 90% of national exports.

Regionally, the state of San Luis Potosí has emerged as a key industrial hub. Data from INEGI indicates the state holds 6.3% of Mexico's total export sector workforce, positioning it as a major generator of manufacturing employment. The state specifically leads in strategic sectors such as auto parts exports.
