Mexico's Supreme Court outlines staff structure, calls for ministerial reconciliation and announces summer recess

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) clarified that each minister’s opinion is prepared by a multidisciplinary team that includes study and accounting secretaries, auxiliary secretaries and administrative personnel, underscoring the large staff needed to handle the court’s heavy caseload.

At the close of its first annual session, the nine justices issued a call for respect and reconciliation after internal disputes, reaffirming support for most executive‑backed reforms while noting ongoing tensions among members.

The Court will enter a summer recess from 16 July to 3 August, halting most proceedings. Outstanding matters include the pending ruling on the double‑VAT charge under the IMMEX program, which involves companies such as Samsung and could affect dozens of firms with billions of pesos at stake, and the unresolved issue of preventive detention.
