Mexico: SCJN issues judicial rulings while San Luis Potosí completes road repairs
In San Luis Potosí, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona reported that 286 kilometers of roads across 12 municipalities were maintained during September. The works included pothole repair, cleaning, and hydraulic infrastructure maintenance to improve safety and transit for families and goods. Due to recent rainfall, the state government will conduct immediate evaluations of the road network to identify potential damage or landslides.
In judicial news, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) issued several rulings. Specialized courts in administrative matters for economic competition, broadcasting, and telecommunications are now the sole entities responsible for resolving injunctions against mobile phone line identification guidelines.
Additionally, the SCJN rejected a request to attract cases regarding municipal authorities' responsibility for ensuring free transit in streets closed by residents with gates or security personnel, following a last-minute change of vote by Minister Loretta Ortiz Ahlf. In a separate ruling, the Court upheld the legality of traffic fine schemes in Mexico City, confirming that vehicle owners can be held jointly liable for fines even if they were not the ones driving at the time of the infraction.
