Mexico suspect charged in Chow Chow animal cruelty case
A 22-year-old man, Brandon Aarón D. P., has been formally linked to a criminal process for the suspected killing and skinning of a Chow Chow dog in the Del Real residential area. The incident occurred in July, when the animal was found with severe injuries and burns. A necropsy revealed the dog was skinned while still alive; the animal subsequently died while being transported by a rescuer to receive veterinary care.
Judge Nancy Ordóñez ruled that the accused must face criminal proceedings and has ordered 12 months of preventive detention. The prosecution has been granted four months to conduct a complementary investigation. Authorities are also investigating the potential involvement of two minors in the case. The defendant faces charges related to animal cruelty against companion animals.
