Mexico tightens alcohol enforcement with night‑club closures and temporary dry law

In Ciudad Juárez, authorities have issued ten “decorative closures” of Dubái night‑clubs over the past two years for violations such as operating outside authorized hours, serving minors and incidents of violence. The penalties consist mainly of fines and the placement of official seals on doors, allowing the venues to continue operating after payment.

Separately, Mexico City will impose a temporary “Ley Seca” from 24 to 27 July in the borough of Magdalena Contreras. The measure bans the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages between 19:00 and 23:59 to ensure public order during the Santa María Magdalena Atlitic celebrations. Violators face fines, possible suspension of activities and business closures.
