Mexico to hire retired medical staff for universal healthcare plan

Mexico is launching an ambitious program to provide universal healthcare services, aiming to establish 12,750 general clinics across the country. The initiative seeks to guarantee free medical access for all citizens, with a goal of providing 40 million consultations annually starting in 2027.

To address a shortage of active medical personnel, the government plans a mass hiring initiative targeting retired doctors and nurses. This recruitment effort will focus on the 24 states currently covered by IMSS Bienestar. The hiring process for these retired professionals is scheduled to begin on September 14.
