Mexico to host 2027 Para-swimming World Championships
Mexico has been selected to host the 2027 World Para Swimming Championships in Guadalajara. The event, scheduled for July 25 to August 1 at the Centro Acuático Metropolitano, will serve as a major precursor to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. World Para Swimming director Craig Nicholson noted the strategic importance of the location, which allows athletes to compete in a similar time zone to the upcoming Paralympics.
In related para-sports news, athletes from Uberlândia, Brazil, achieved significant success at the Mexico 2026 Parapan American Open Championships in Mexico City. The delegation secured 13 medals, including seven golds, contributing heavily to Brazil's total of 28 medals in the weightlifting competition. Notable performances included Tayana Medeiros and Marco Túlio Cruz, both of whom set new continental records in their respective weight classes.
