Mexico to host 48th Manuel Enríquez International Forum of New Music

The 48th Manuel Enríquez International Forum of New Music will take place from November 6 to 21, 2026. The event will commemorate the centenary of the forum's founder, Mexican composer Manuel Enríquez, and honor Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho.

Organized by the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) through the National Coordination of Music and Opera (CNMO), the forum will span 24 venues across nine Mexican states. The program includes 47 concerts and 14 academic activities, featuring 51 world premieres and 58 Mexican premieres.

To honor Enríquez's legacy, 27 concerts will incorporate his compositions. José María Serralde Ruiz, head of the CNMO, noted that the forum has become a fundamental space for contemporary musical creation in Mexico.
