Mexico to resume South Korea FTA talks after US trade negotiations

Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco Alvarez has expressed Mexico's commitment to resuming stalled Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with South Korea. However, he noted that these discussions will proceed only after the conclusion of ongoing, critical trade negotiations with the United States, including the review of the USMCA.

During his three-day visit to South Korea, Velasco Alvarez met with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-hyun to discuss bilateral economic ties. The official emphasized the importance of strengthening economic connections with partners outside the United States.

In addition to trade discussions, the Mexican Foreign Minister met with representatives from companies such as Samsung E&A to explore potential cooperation in advanced sectors, including aerospace, space industry, and artificial intelligence. The visit also included a trip to the Korea Institute of Science and Technology to discuss joint research projects.
