Mexico-Toluca Highway collision leaves two dead after electric vehicle fire
Two people died following a collision between an electric vehicle and a luxury SUV on the Mexico-Toluca Highway near Santa Fe. The accident occurred near kilometer 15, heading toward the State of Mexico.
The collision involved a BYD electric vehicle and an Audi. Following the impact, the BYD vehicle caught fire and was quickly consumed by flames. The two occupants of the electric car were trapped inside and could not be rescued by emergency services.
The driver of the Audi, a man between 30 and 35 years old, sustained minor injuries. Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, worked to control the fire and manage the scene. Authorities noted that the nature of the electric vehicle fire required specialized intervention. The National Guard closed circulation on the highway to facilitate emergency operations and investigations.
