Mexico-U.S. border crossings face heavy delays in Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo

Travelers crossing from Mexico into the United States experienced significant delays at several international bridges on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The congestion is linked to the holiday weekend preceding Columbus Day in the United States.

In Reynosa, motorists from Nuevo León faced delays caused by a military checkpoint incident involving a vehicle rollover, followed by long queues at international bridges. The Anzaldúas International Bridge, connecting Reynosa to Mission, saw vehicle lines extending beyond the Rio Grande. While U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) worked to expedite inspections, wait times exceeded one hour in the morning and reached up to three hours by the afternoon. The Reynosa-Hidalgo crossing also saw increased traffic as drivers attempted to avoid the congestion at Anzaldúas.

In Nuevo Laredo, pedestrians and motorists faced wait times of up to two hours at the International Bridge I “De las Américas.” Reports indicated that the congestion was particularly severe for pedestrians during the morning hours. U.S. authorities had not officially confirmed the specific cause of the delays at this crossing.
