Mexico achieves 77% compliance with diesel price cap, average 27.15 pesos per litre

Mexico's consumer protection agency Profeco reported that 77.3% of fuel stations are now complying with the voluntary agreement to sell diesel at a maximum of 27 pesos per litre. The national average diesel price fell to 27.15 pesos per litre, up from roughly 63% compliance in May. The agency said the price cap is helping to contain inflation, especially in freight transport.

Profeco also highlighted that the basic consumer basket remains under the agreed ceiling of 910 pesos, with the cheapest 24‑item basket found at a Chedraui store in Puebla at 764.40 pesos. Prices for tomato saladette dropped below 20 pesos per kilogram after coordinated talks between the government, producers and distributors. The agency continues to monitor prices and urges consumers to use its online tools for price comparison.
