Mexico Women's Flag Football Team qualifies for 2028 Olympics
The Mexican Women's National Flag Football Team has secured qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This historic achievement follows the team's bronze medal performance at the IFAF World Championship held in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Quarterback Tania Rincón Samperio played a pivotal role in the tournament, recording significant statistics including five touchdowns and 126 passing yards. The team's path to the bronze medal included victories over Germany, Slovenia, Italy, and Spain, before defeating Great Britain 20-19 in the third-place match.
Player Silvia Contreras noted that the qualification is the result of a long-term preparation process that began years ago following the announcement of flag football's inclusion in the Olympic program. Much of the current roster has been working together since 2018 and 2021 to reach this milestone.
