Canada and Mexico secure Olympic flag football spots

At the IFAF World Championship in Düsseldorf, Germany, Canada and Mexico secured spots for the inaugural Olympic flag football competition at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Canada's women's team won the gold medal after defeating the United States 27-20. Canadian quarterback Sara Parker was named tournament MVP. The men's team also qualified for the Olympics by winning the bronze medal match against Mexico with a score of 34-26 in overtime.

The Mexican women's team secured their Olympic berth by winning the bronze medal, defeating Great Britain 20-19. Despite entering the tournament as the world number one, they lost their semifinal match to Canada 20-6 before rebounding to claim third place.
