Mexico and Argentina launch major book fairs in August 2026

The second edition of the Feria Internacional del Libro Puebla (FILIP) will run from 14 to 23 August, expecting over 100,000 visitors. Organisers announced more than 100 national and international publishers, more than 300 cultural activities, and Spain as the invited country. Writer Elena Poniatowska was named the fair's ambassador and new libraries bearing her name were opened across the city. Events will be free and take place in the Zócalo, the Capilla del Arte UDLAP and the Teatro de la Ciudad.

In Junín, Argentina, the 22nd Feria del Libro opened on 1 August at the SUM “Mario Meoni”. The program honors Jorge Luis Borges, includes a technology space, AI and robotics workshops, and runs through 2 August. Similar book‑fair activities were reported in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, where the XIII Feria del Libro opened on 1 August and will continue until 9 August with hundreds of free cultural events aimed at promoting reading among children and youth.

A detailed schedule for the second day of a Feria del Libro listed workshops on comic‑book creation, artificial‑intelligence tools for mathematics, poetry, and inclusive‑education sessions, illustrating the broad educational focus of these festivals.
