Mexico's Ayotzinapa families demand truth as ex-prosecutor Murillo Karam placed under electronic bracelet

Families of the 43 Ayotzinapa students gathered to mark almost 12 years since the mass disappearance, urging President Claudia Sheinbaum to address outstanding investigative lines and rejecting a recent recommendation from the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH). They reiterated that the whereabouts of the students remain unknown and condemned attempts by authorities to divide the parents.

At the same time, a federal judge revoked the preventive detention of former Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam, allowing him to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. Murillo Karam, who faces charges of forced disappearance, torture and obstruction of justice in the Ayotzinapa case, continues to deny state involvement, maintaining the narrative that criminal groups and local authorities were responsible.
