Mexico's Canal Veintidós Debuts 'Las Voces de México Canta' Music Competition Show
Canal Veintidós, under the direction of Alonso Millán Zepeda, will broadcast the 2026 edition of the binational music competition "México Canta" through a new program called "Las Voces de México Canta." Hosted by Cemí Hernández, the series will air on Sundays at 19:00 starting 2 August, with additional content on the channel’s social media platforms. The show profiles the fourteen semifinalists—seven from Mexico and seven Mexican‑American participants—detailing their personal stories and artistic inspirations as they advance toward the live final scheduled for 13 September at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City.
The competition is part of a government‑backed initiative aimed at promoting peace and discouraging addiction, coordinated by the Secretaría de Cultura and the Consejo Mexicano de la Música. By highlighting emerging regional Mexican talent, the program seeks to offer new musical narratives that move away from violence‑related themes.
