Mexico's CFE and Infonavit to power 107,000 new Bienestar homes

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the Institute of the National Workers' Housing Fund (Infonavit) are coordinating to supply electric infrastructure to 107,515 homes under the Programa de Vivienda para el Bienestar. The effort, led by CFE director‑general Emilia Esther Calleja Alor and Infonavit director‑general Octavio Romero Oropeza, follows a framework agreement published on 12 February 2026 that sets mechanisms for planning, developing and guaranteeing electrical services in new housing projects from 2026 to 2030. Weekly reviews monitor progress and technical requirements, while early planning for 2027 projects aims to accelerate execution. The initiative supports the government’s goal of constructing 1.2 million homes during the current sexenio, ensuring that new dwellings are delivered with basic services already in place.
