New Bridges Open at Cusárare Waterfall Boost Tourism in Guachochi, Mexico

The State Government of Chihuahua inaugurated two new vehicular bridges over the Río Cusárare, providing the main access to the Parque Ecoturístico Cusárare in the municipality of Guachochi. The project, funded with 12 million pesos of state resources, is intended to serve roughly 74 000 residents of Guachochi and Bocoyna and the more than 542 000 visitors who travel to the area each year.

Secretary of Tourism Edibray Gómez led the ribbon‑cutting ceremony and said the bridges will "unite communities, bring visitors closer, open opportunities and link tourism development with everyday life." The structures were named “Chachamuri,” after a local snake, and “El Chapareke,” in tribute to Rarámuri musician Antonio Camilo. Municipal president José Miguel Yáñez, indigenous governor Luciano González, subsecretary Enrique Toledo and tourism planner Francisco Javier Orrantia also attended the event.
