Mexico's Child Rights Commission Holds Listening Forum Ahead of 2026 Parliament

Mexico's Commission on the Rights of Children and Adolescents organized the forum “Voces de la Niñez: reflexiones y propuestas para sus derechos” as part of preparatory work for the 2026 Child Parliament. Commission president Deputy Elizabeth Martínez Álvarez (PAN) said the event is meant to gather opinions and proposals from children across the country to inform future legislative initiatives. Participants raised concerns about child abuse, forced labor, trafficking, access to health and mental‑health services, inclusive education and safe recreational spaces.

In the state of Michoacán, Deputy Baltazar Gaona García addressed the Parliament for the Right to Childhood and a Life Free of Violence, stressing that children must be at the centre of public decisions. He highlighted the need for quality education, timely health care, adequate nutrition and safe environments, linking the protection of children’s rights to the region’s future development.
