The National Commission for Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca) reported that it retained 462,550 kg of illegal fish product during June 2026. The seizure resulted from 236 inspection acts, 1,137 verifications, 1,216 land patrols and 236 water patrols carried out across 19 states, including Baja California, Baja California Sur, Colima, Mexico City, Guerrero, Jalisco, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Sonora, Veracruz and Yucatán.

During the operation, officials confiscated 1,436 fishing‑gear items, 24 vehicles, 17 small vessels and nine outboard motors, and three individuals were placed under the custody of the Ministry of Public for violations of the General Law on Sustainable Fishing and Aquaculture. Conapesca maintains a 24‑hour hotline (669 915 6913) and an online reporting platform to receive citizen complaints.

The agency said the actions aim to combat illegal fishing, protect marine resources and promote a responsible, competitive seafood sector in Mexico.
