Mexico's Cultural Food Festivals Spotlight Chiles en Nogada and Wild Mushrooms

The Mexican Senate of the Republic invited the public to the 23rd Feria del Chile en Nogada 2026, to be held in San Andrés Calpan, Puebla. Senate President Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez praised traditional women cooks, and deputies highlighted the dish’s historic roots and a state project to extend its season year‑round.

The Secretaría de Cultura, through the Cencalli program and the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, presented the Festival de los Hongos Silvestres on 1–2 August 2026. The event featured traditional cooks and producers from five states, offering mushroom‑based dishes, academic talks and workshops aimed at preserving Mexico’s biocultural heritage and supporting local communities.
