Mexico's CURP-linked mobile registrations lag as deadline nears

The Mexican telecom regulator, Comisión Reguladora de Telecomunicaciones (CRT), says that about 1.5 million mobile numbers must be documented daily before the June 30, 2026 deadline to link CURP with lines. The emphasis is on rapid enrollment to meet the regulatory requirement and avoid service disruption.

As of April 19, updated figures show that only 19% of Mexico's roughly 158 million mobile lines have CURP registered. That leaves a vast majority of users without linked identifiers as the deadline approaches, highlighting a significant gap in compliance.

With the deadline looming, authorities warn that unlinked lines will face loss of service starting July 1, meaning calls and data could be disabled for those not registered. The two reports align on the overall timeline, noting that the regulatory push seeks to complete the CURP linkage across the mobile ecosystem by turn of July.
