Mexico's Defense Ministry Seizes 12 Drones in Chihuahua

The Mexican Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena) reported the seizure of 12 unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in the state of Chihuahua between January and June 2024. The latest confiscations occurred in Ojinaga on 27 April, with earlier seizures in Guachochi (7 February), Chihuahua city (17 January) and two incidents in Juárez (24 and 29 January).

Sedena’s data show that a total of 234 drones have been seized nationwide since 2019, with 25 of those collected by the National Guard in Michoacán. The figures vary by state: Sinaloa recorded 54 seizures in 2025, Baja California six, Tamaulipas 36 since 2022, and Michoacán 53 since 2021. Authorities say the captures reflect the operational capacity of organized criminal groups.
