Mexico's Digital Transformation Agency expands AI and online services

The Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications (ATDT) in Mexico is expanding its digital services through new automation and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Samuel Rivera Muciño announced that the government is working on a project to allow the registration of new vehicles entirely online, expected to launch in the first half of 2027. This follows the successful digitalization of driver's license renewals and circulation card acquisitions. Efforts are also underway to digitize concession systems for taxis and transit routes.

Additionally, the ATDT has launched an Artificial Intelligence Factory. A team of 20 specialists is developing AI models focused on citizen service, risk modeling, and process automation. Key applications include a 24/7 service window, a chatbot for the Visit Mexico portal, customs applications, and streamlining patent assignments at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).

These technological advancements follow the success of the ATDT's Software Factory, which employs 300 university graduates. The software division has developed 279 digital products, resulting in government savings of over 14 billion pesos by reducing reliance on private contractors.
