Mexico's first Bachillerato Nacional cohort yields 527,000 dual certifications

The first generation of Mexico’s new national high‑school program, the Bachillerato Nacional, concluded its inaugural year under President Claudia Sheinbaum and Education Secretary Mario Delgado. More than 527,000 students across the country received a dual qualification – a general bachillerato diploma and a technical certificate – from a program that offers 207 technical options in ten strategic fields and currently enrolls nearly two million learners.

The flagship CBTIS 289 campus in Tecámac, State of Mexico, completed its first 2025‑2026 cycle with 537 students enrolled in health‑related technical tracks such as General Nursing, Clinical Laboratory, Radiology, Dental Prosthesis and Dental Assistance. The school plans to open an evening shift for the 2026‑2027 term, expanding capacity to over 900 students and adding a new technical program in dental care.
