Mexico's Guanajuato and Puebla food assistance programs serve thousands

In the municipality of San Diego de la Unión, Guanajuato, the state DIF agency delivered hot school meals to the Emiliano Zapata primary school, reaching 42 beneficiaries. The delivery was part of the Programa Alimentación Escolar caliente, which together with other modalities of the Programa Asistencia Alimentaria Guanajuato supports 1,769 people in the area, providing 120,484 hot meals and 656 food packages with a state investment of 3,013,750 pesos. The event also included nutrition education activities, a Healthy and Sustainable Food Rally, and a regional sports tournament for older adults.

In Puebla, the Sistema Estatal para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (SEDIF) completed the distribution of 29,856 food baskets to 7,464 residents, giving each household four baskets. The program targeted vulnerable groups such as older adults, people with disabilities, cancer patients, and those suffering protein‑energy malnutrition, reaching neighborhoods, housing units and community centers across the state capital.
