Mexico's INE Launches Children's Electoral Tribunal for 2026

The National Electoral Institute (INE) of Mexico announced a call for children aged 9 to 12 to join the 2026 Children's Electoral Tribunal. The initiative, titled “La Niñez de México y Latinoamérica Tiene la Palabra,” aims to promote civic participation, education, and the exercise of children's rights. Registrations are open until 28 August and accept participants from Mexico as well as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela. Applicants must submit a short video (1‑3 minutes) answering questions on values, children's rights and responsible use of social media, and provide personal and school information with parental consent. Submissions are to be sent by the deadline to the institute’s email or WhatsApp contact. Results will be announced on 14 September and the tribunal ceremony is scheduled for 30 October, with a committee of former winners evaluating the entries.
