Mexico's Megafarmacia facility faces inactivity and infrastructure damage

The Centro Federal de Almacenamiento y Distribución de Insumos para la Salud (Cefedis), popularly known as the 'Megafarmacia,' is reportedly experiencing significant inactivity and physical deterioration in the State of Mexico.

Despite being inaugurated in 2023 as a solution to medicine shortages, the 425,000-square-meter facility appears desolate. Reports indicate that the loading docks are empty and very few workers or vehicles are present. Additionally, a sinkhole that formed in January has left one of the main entrances partially blocked by debris, forcing heavy trailers to use a longer northern access route.

Local residents noted that the facility, which previously served as a warehouse for Liverpool, currently lacks the operational activity expected of a major medical distribution hub.
