Sheinbaum launches security, education and housing plan in Cuautla
President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a multi‑pronged federal operation in Cuautla, Morelos. The plan deploys a permanent Guardia Nacional presence, house‑by‑house outreach to identify youths not attending school, and the construction of ten new Bachillerato Nacional “Margarita Maza” high‑school campuses. It also expands employment opportunities through the Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro programme and delivers new homes – 128 units from Infonavit and additional units under the Vivienda para el Bienestar scheme – as part of a state target of 13 000 new houses with an investment of over 8 billion pesos. Sheinbaum pledged to return in three months to evaluate progress and stressed that the effort addresses the root social causes of crime after the recent detention of the municipal mayor.
The housing component raises the state goal from 8 000 to 13 000 units, aiming to benefit roughly 24 000 families. Nationwide, the programme targets 1.8 million new homes and the restructuring of millions of mortgage credits for low‑income households.
