Mexico's Mundial Social 2026 opens new football fields in Guanajuato and Morelos

As part of the federal Mundial Social 2026 program, Mexico inaugurated two artificial‑turf football 7 fields. In León, Guanajuato, a 3‑million‑peso facility at the Las Joyas sports complex features drainage, cyclonic netting, synthetic grass and solar‑powered lighting, with local youth teams and the CODE Guanajuato director present. In La Joya, Yautepec, Morelos, a similar high‑standard field was opened to provide safe recreation, deter street crime and scout football talent, attended by Sedatu officials and the municipal mayor.

Both projects aim to expand sport access in densely populated areas, with a total of 34 fields planned nationwide—27 new and 7 refurbished—under the World Cup legacy initiative.
