Mexico's National Guard adopts viral 'Comando Chihuahua
A one-year-old Chihuahua, known as ‘Comando Chihuahua’, has become a viral sensation after being officially adopted by Mexico’s National Guard. Originally owned by an elderly couple unable to provide necessary care, the dog was donated to the institution in the state of Chihuahua.
The National Guard has integrated the dog into its activities to serve in a social proximity role, aiming to foster empathy and positive connections with citizens. The dog gained widespread popularity on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram after appearing in full tactical gear, including a custom helmet, protective sunglasses, and a GoPro camera mounted on its back.
Its fame peaked following its participation in the 2026 Civic-Military Parade in Mexico City, where it wore insignia from the Reaction Force (FERA).
