Mexico's PAN Coahuila loses state registration, becomes national delegation

After receiving only 2.16% of the vote in the recent elections, the National Action Party (PAN) in Coahuila failed to meet the 3% threshold required for a plurinominal seat. Consequently, the party lost its state registration and public funding. The National Executive Committee (CEN) will formally dissolve the State Directing Committee and establish a delegation that will take control of the party’s assets, accounts, and municipal committees in the state.

Federal deputy Guillermo Anaya Llamas attributed the defeat to years of abandonment, lack of street work and ignoring party militants, saying, “We harvested what we sowed in years.” Deputy Marcelo Torres Cofiño called for an “institutional clean‑up,” announcing a restructuring that will appoint a new delegate and may consider future alliances under national guidance.
